About the author.

The author was born 8th March 1961 in a three story house on, what was then, the outskirts of Northampton, England. Early school years were very happy days spent at St Matthews School, now a block of flats, in between Byron St and Shelly St in the Kingsley area of Northampton. This was followed by Cherry Orchard school for two years until the education system went Comprehensive, then Weston Favell Upper were the young author could be found spending more time on antics than lessons. He left Weston Favell Upper to the delight of the teachers and a CSE 1 in English in his pocket.
A six month stint as a window dresser in the Northampton CO-OP included what he considers one of his greatest moments, he built Santa's grotto, the joy of the young customers was something he remembers well.
He then worked for a government establishment for thirty years in the electronic and hardware manufacturing field
A years sabbatical to South East Asia. Here he visited Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
It was here he met his wife Da, 8 years younger, in Thailand, in his friends restaurant were she served the food. He suspected she ate a large portion of the food on the way to the tables. Her first words were deciphered as “All right mate?”, a typical southern English greeting, but was actually “Aroy mai?”, literal translation, 'Tasty no?'. Having no understanding of each others culture or language they visited Cambodia together.
Now married, with the fancy certificates and large red rubber 'Thai wife' stamp in his passport, he lives in a small Khmer speaking village in Surin province very close to the Cambodian border with 2 cats, 4 dogs, some pigs and a lot of interesting neighbours.
Hobbies include sign writing in Thai, researching local history, natural farming techniques and trying to paint pictures.
