Enjoy the Liberty

When I was 19 years old I went on a round trip by helicopter in my summer holidays. The flight with the “Robinson R-44” was so great and unforgettable. Therefore I said, as soon as possible, I would make the flying licence. After I had saved enough money, by autumn 2001, I started the instruction.

“WITH A LITTLE HELP FORM FRIENDS”
Mr. Schüler was our flying teacher in Reinsdorf, a flight school in near I live and he is a really nice, sociable and dependable man. First we had to learn the theory. The instruments, the wireless language, the navigation, the air traffic law, the aerodynamics and so far, were easy to understand, but a lot of technical elements were difficult. Mr. Schüler and Jonas P., one of the other six pupils, taught me in a understandable and patient way, things like motors, jet engines and many more. After 80 theory-hours I took the first examination.

“LIKE A BIRD”
As a matter of fact, the first real flight with my teacher took two hours and it was so unbelievable, likewise I was very nervous and angry, too. First I was nervous but after each flight I made I became relaxed, self-confident and independent. I got more and more delight, because I could try / tried to make some stunts at training, too. By turns I flew with a “Bell-206 Jet-Ranger” and a “Huges 300”.

“BIG EXAMINATION”
The days before I took the “big” examination, I practised a lot because it decided if I would get the “PPL-E” helicopter licence. All in all, I needed 47 practice hours, which were all OK. The examiner was nice and the weather was fantastic, but I was so nervous, too. I was so happy, as I heard, I had managed it, no one can believe how much!

“NEW PERSPECTIVES"
At the last sunny weekend I met Jonas and we made our first flight together, but without our trainer. Undoubtedly, it was so wonderful, we saw the great landscape. We felt like a bird and this is the real feeling of liberty, one of the reasons, I wanted to live my biggest desire.
Next week I will fly with a “Cessna 172” and perhaps I will make the “PPL-A” small aeroplane licence, too.
