Sonnet 1, Good-bye
More rapid flew the time than guessed it would,
But I stay here quite by myself for weeks.
With pleasure I would love Thou if I could
And kiss all lips of Thou, Thy tender cheeks.
My thoughts and dreams are constantly with Thou,
And all my yearnings were not to bring down.
So Thou then may infer from this yet how
Still I long for Thine all! But please don’t frown.
We can’t against coditions run amuc.
Our love is not a neck-lace to be bought.
Love gripped each others heart, enjoyed our luck.
Must we dispence with love we so much sought?
My manhood stands about by night and day:
Is ev’ry chance of making love passé?
