Dietmar Wessel
Computer Addicted Person - CAP
It’s two thirty at night,
I am awake
My brain starts working
I know I need a break..
I feel an urge
A great desire
It is burning in me
Kind of a fire
I need a mousepad
Need a pc
I say to myself
“See, you are C A P (ce ai pi)”
I crawl to my room
With a shaky gait
My fingers are trembling
Can no longer wait
I switch on the machine
Hear the hard disc drive
Finally “windows” appears
Back to life
The signal appears
“You have mail now to read”
It requires an answer
Some time I do need.
I pop in the chat room
Of “anonymous CAP”
To discuss the latest news
About the Pentium Three
I know I am addicted
I want to get rid of this hoarse
And find for download
A new computerized course
The title is striking
“A cure for C A P”
I download the beta version
It might be a help for me.
My wife enters and breaks out in complete dismay
When she asks what I am dreaming of
And I answer
“ a head mounted display”.
I gave up to explain the fancy infrared connection
When she coldly replied in my direction
“When in future you are looking for a kiss or a hug
Please go to yahoo, find a site without a bug
Take your new flat sceen in your arms
And I wish you good night
You poor computer addicted person
This is really a plight.”
Then I woke up and found my wife next to me
It was a nightmare
I was touching her knee
And said to myself
“No, not me, I am not yet a C A P.”
