The Computer Fairy Tale

forever banned

Once upon a time, in a school, there lived a student by the name of Celina. She was intelligent and beautiful and always wanted to learn something new. But her computer teacher didn't like that. He thought that that girl was too curious.
One day, when she had a lot of questions again, the teacher went angry. Celina just wanted to ask some more questions about one software. "Can you tell me, how do I do this? And where is this certain option ?" The teacher jumped up from his chair. "I will tell you where you'll find it!" He took a screw driver and began to loosen the screws of her computer, putting them onto the table and then lifted the top of the machine. Celina screamed "Oh, no! What are you doing?" "I'll tell you in a second!" As soon as the teacher touched her sholder with that screw driver, she began to lose size. When she had about the size of a peanut, the process stopped. The teacher took her, as small as she was, and put her into the computer.
"That is what you get for asking too much! You're bound to travel in cyberspace forever. And you will never be free again. I'll create a mean virus, the virus of variety. Noone will ever recognize it. Unless", he stopped for a bit. "Oh no, there are just so few chances, I guess noone will ever destroy my virus." He laughed angrily. Then, put the top back on to the computer, put the screws back in and tightened them. After that, he sat down in front of the keyboard and did some programming and typing keys in a speed that noone would ever follow. Celina who was still inside the computer, because she was too curious to go, heard him talk to himself. "Well, I guess noone will ever find that this virus doesn't like Mariah Carey. I don't like her either and noone knows that. With these words, he finished his procedure and shut down the programme.
"OK", Celina thought to herself. "Now I know what to do. I must find a user somewhere out there in cyberspace who likes Mariah carey passionately and so the virus can be killed and I'll be free again!" So she left the computer in order to travel on through the net and search for that specific user.

Lost and found

While Celina was wandering through the eternal waves of cyberspace, she heard some music coming from far away. It was the voice of Mariah Carey singing one of her ballads. The person that was listening to one of Mariah's cd's was Darren, a student who was just checking his emails. Celina followed the sound and got to the entrance of Darren's computer. Now she would have to wait till he opened the cd drawer so that she could climb out of the machine onto the opened drawer in order to talk to him. Fortunately, she didn't need to wait very long. Darren was done checking emails and listening to the music. He reached down and opened the drawer and took the CD out. At that moment, Celina climbed onto the opened drawer and stood there. Darren didn't believe what he saw. There was a miniature girl obviously wanting to talk to him as she didn't go away as he picked her up in order to look at her more carefully. "River deep mountain high", he thought "What is that! Who are you and what are you doing in my computer? My name is Darren. Whom are you searching for? Are you sure you are searching for me?" "Hello, Darren", she started. "My name is Celina. I heard that you listened to Mariah Carey and I chose you to help me." Darren was fascinated. Such a thing had never happened to him before. He always wanted to help others the best he could and so he was determined to take this task, no matter how long it would take. He felt an attraction towards Celina and before she started telling her story, he knew that something very very tragic and unfair must have happened to her. "You know", she went on, "I am a secretarial student and my teacher bannd me to travel in cyberspace forever because he thinks that I am too intelligent and curious for his lessons and that I am in his way. Now he thinks that he has won. But what he does not know is that I have cought something that he said to himself after he had banned me. He has linked my imprisonment to a virus, the virus of variety. It's a very mean virus because it will never be recognized by someone at once. But the most important thing is that the virus does not like Mariah Carey at all. My teacher has programmed it that way because he doesn't like that singer either." "So what shall I do?" Darren was curious and had got really involved in what happened to that poor little student. "Well, all you have to do is listening to Mariah Carey when you think that the virus is there. You will notice it because you will get all kinds of weird error messages. The virus is trying to attack everyone's computer. Some people just don't do anything about it. But some, like you, will recognize it. And I chose you because I know you're strong enough to fight off this virus and set me free from that ban. Would you do that for me?" There was no pause. "Yes, Celina", Darren replied with determination. "And what about you? Will you stay here and tell me when the virus will arrive?" "No. I must travel on in cyberspace. But I'll be free when the virus is killed and I will return to you forever then." Darren was satisfied "I will do my very best, Celina." She climbed back onto the computer and he helped her to get along. "Thank you, Darren. I am sure you will make it." Darren closed the drawer and was waiting full of curiosity what the virus would do and imagined how he would get rid of it just to be with Celina again.

The virus and the hero

Some hours had passed and Darren went to check his emails again. He hoped that the virus would appear. If it did, he would play his Mariah carey CD that he still had in the drawer. He logged onto his email programme and everything was just the usual procedure. Until suddenly, the usual signal for error messages was heard and an error message came onto the screen: "I am the mean virus, the virus of variety. There is no use to check your emails because I hav blocked your account. Don't you ever try to argue with me. The other users who have tried that have all lost this game. So just shut down that software and hope that I won't destroy any of your other programmes." "I am not afraid", said Darren. "Not me!" He tried to correct some options hoping that that might fix that virus and that he wouldn't need the CD at all. But the more he tried to change settings, the more error messages he got. He didn't want to give that virus too much of a chance. So finally he opened up his cd playing programme and hit the play button. The CD was already In the drawer. When the first words of one song were heard, it didn't seem to do any changes. But the more it went on, the virus kept noticing what was going on. At first, it even kept displaying more weird errors and Darren thought that this CD wouldn't be helpful at all. He was just about to get another one from the cupboard. But just nearly at the end of that song, the virus disappeared in a moan that seemed to come from the deepest eternity of cyberspace. At that same moment, the CD stopped playing. The drawer opened and Celina climbed out of the machine. Darren picked her up and placed her carefully onto the floor. After he had done that, she began to grow back to her normal size and Darren could see what she really looked like. She was beautiful and she was the one he had always dreamed of. "Oh, Darren. You set me free from that terror in cyberspace. Thank you so much." She was noticeably reliefed. "No problem, Celina", he said with determination. "I would do it all over again and whenever you ask me to." They kissed each other and a growing relationship was born. A few months later, they married and it was a magnificent marriage. They had 6 children and they lived happily ever after.
