The Dance

My feet hardly touch the ground; I feel like I am floating on thin air.

The veil of mist slowly lifts and beyond it a figure in a long, emerald-green dress approaches me.

You are standing right in front of me; I can even sense your breath. Impressive green eyes explore the depths of my thoughts.

A soft hand touches my cheek und then settles on my back. The fabric seems to vanish and I feel your fingers on my bare skin.

Quietly, music goes to my ears. This dance is just for the two of us.

I get my arms around you to pull your small body even closer to me.

The surroundings start to rotate about us; we are hovering.

We are prisoners, each of us in a separate world. Your world belongs to reality; mine belongs to the dreams as it is only in my dreams that I can be so close to you.

My soul is yearning for the sleep that takes me into my world. Days are passing by slowly; I am afraid of every morning taking me back into your world in which I barely exist. You are not aware of me.

Though, you often look at me in that strange and knowing way. Could it be that you have full access to all of my emotions?

It is different; different from every kind of feeling I have experienced before. You seem too sensuously intoxicating. And again, I am drowning in someone’s presence.

My defence is breaking into tiny pieces and each time I try to build it up again, it is you tearing it down; revealing every little weakness of mine.

The music suddenly stops playing. Now, our dance has to end.

I take a last look at you before the mist descends and I am drawn back into your world.
