The exciting 30 minutes in my life

My name is Victoria Hauchwitz. I’m 17 years old and I’m I class eleven. Since 1997 I have been at the “Gesamtschule Dahme”. In class seven we had to choose our special courses. I choose German, Mathematics and English. English has always been my favourite subject. Till class ten my notes were good and there were good and there were no problems.

When I was in class nine our teacher told us we had to make a final exam. At this time, we all began to ask ourselves whether this exam will be difficult or easy, what we had to do there and so far. The time went by and the end of class ten was near. My English teacher Mrs. Sonnabend told us everything we had to know. We had to choose a topic, and we should prepare our text at home. So we had the chance to learn our text very well. Besides she told us we had to form groups, because in the exam we had to talk with our group members and we had to ask them some questions about their given lecture. So I chose a topic.

I decided that “leisure time activities and hobbies” was a good topic and Nadine, René and me formed a group. Every one of us prepared the text at home. Nadine said: “This will be very easy.” I thought the same and I wrote my text without having big problems. In every English lesson we exercised and soon the day of the exam was there. My exam started at ten o’clock. The evening before the exam I was very nervous. I met my group members at school. We waited until the examiners called us to come into the classroom. Mrs. Sonnabend gave us the tasks we had to do and then 30 minutes started.

At this time we had to do these tasks and to decide who had to do which part of the tasks. My nervousness increased. Soon the time was over and our exam started. First, every one of us had to give the lecture. Then we asked our questions. When my lecture started my nervousness was flown away. After our questions we had to answer some questions of the tasks and than the exam were over. We waited in front of the classroom and talked about our exam. Suddenly the door opened and our teacher told us to come in again. We stood in the middle of the room and then they told us our marks. “Victoria, you get 15 points.” Yes, I got 15 points. Nadine got 15 points, too. René got 12 points and we were very happy. I phoned my mum and told her the result. She congratulated me. It was my best exam mark and my family was very proud of me.
